Day 4 - Piano di Sorrento, Italy -> Pompei, Italy

Sun, June 16
23.5 Miles (105.4 total)

Rough morning. Didn't sleep well at all. The AC didn't really work, so it was a little warm. But we packed up and headed out to first see some Roman ruins. Crazy how that stuff is still standing.

After that, we made our way to Pompeii, but not before having to push our bikes up a super steep slope that was gated off at the top. There was no way we were going back to the bottom, so we took the bags off the bikes, lifted them over the gate, and packed them up again to keep going.

After that, it was pretty smooth sailing to Pompeii. Dad had already bought tickets online, so we went in and started our Rick Steves audio tour using the free app. Pretty handy! Couldn't believe how much of Pompeii was still standing after 2,000 years. They had an amphitheater, running water, bath houses, and even fast food areas. Incredible how they were able to figure out so much.

We headed back to our campsite afterwards, and I was pretty hungry and starting to get tired. We haven't eaten much for breakfast and lunch the last few days. Today we had a sweet roll for breakfast, and an apple, banana, and little pastry before walking Pompei. But our dinners have been pretty big to make up for it. We set up the tents, showered, and rode back to the grocery store to grab stuff for dinner and breakfast.
