Day 18 - Burlington, VT -> Middlebury, VT

Wedn, July 12
43.4 Miles (775.8 total)

Decent day of riding. Wind was fighting us again, and we're seeing more hills. We had flat roads for a long time, but today was mostly ups and downs. And we had another detour. The route took us down a private drive, and even Google said a road was supposed to be there. But when we checked satellite view, there was nothing. So we took the highway the rest of the way, luckily without adding any extra miles. And at 38.5 miles, two miles away from town, Dad got another flat. Three in three days. Luckily, there was a bike shop right as we entered town, and Dad's bike was able to make it there without completely changing the tube, but just stopping to inflate it twice. Turns out a small piece of glass was stuck in the outer part of the tire and was puncturing the tube if it was positioned just right.
We have another host today! Rik and Mae took us in, along with their kids Oliver, Mintsy, Felix, and an international exchange student named Muhory. They made us a huge dinner, and I ate vegetables again for the first time maybe since Olive Garden. After dinner, they took me into town to see the Festival On The Green, an annual free music show the town puts on for a couple days. It was packed! Nice to see so many people out enjoying the community. Once we got back, it was time to call it a night. We set up our tents in their yard and passed out.
