Great day of riding today! Had some easy riding in the morning, then a long, steep downhill. It would be the highest we would be for the rest of the trip. That took us to Montreux, which was stunning. Beautiful city by the water, surrounded by mountains. And they were in the process of taking stuff down after a two week long jazz festival. It looks like it would've been so much fun. Would love to go back for it sometime! We saw the Freddie Mercury statue, but we weren't able to see the Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha Franklin statues in a different park because of jazz festival stuff.
We left Montreux, and the path took us through some nasty hills through grape orchards, so we went back to the road and hit Lausanne not long later. Our host for today said we could camp in his yard and use the hose to shower unless we wanted to wait for the two hours he'd be home later... We decided to get a hotel. Bummer about these last two hosts though. Meeting the local people is always one of my favorite parts of these trips. But it was nice to relax and watch the Olympic opening ceremony.
One day of riding left!
That first picture is stunning!
ReplyDeleteReally a shame about the last two hosts.
