Gladiator day! Another nice downhill to start, crushing 10 miles in 38 minutes. We had nice riding the first half of the day, then came the dirt roads where Gladiator movie scenes were supposed to take place. We had to go past a chained off private property line to continue with the route, which then took us up the steepest climb yet. I feel like I've been saying that a lot, but Italy keeps surprising me with something worse. We pushed our bikes up and still had to take breaks. After that, we canned the route and stuck to roads. Luckily, the Gladiator house was off a main road! Unluckily, it's gated off from pretty far, and it wasn't the location where Russel Crowe walks through the wheat. We made it to our Pilgrims Hostel a few minutes later and started getting ready for tomorrow.
Awesome you saw the house!! Also looks very scenic in that area
