Great start to the day! After riding back to Rome and visiting a bike shop to get our Pilgrims Passport for the monasteries up ahead, we had a few beautiful miles of riding. Beautiful bike trails, smooth roads through little towns, free of glass. But the last half of the trip got difficult. Dad ended up falling twice - once because of a stuck shoe clip, another time because the bike slipped in sandy dirt. He got a little scraped up and sore. There was a lot of climbing and slow going up some hills. And the route took us down some roads that were not meant to be traveled on. We had to walk our bikes down one dirt "road" filled with holes, half missing, and overgrown with bushes. At the bottom, we had to walk the bikes across a shallow stream! It came up to a little above our ankles and was only about 15 ft across, but this was a first for all of our bike trips. We were glad to finally get to Camping Roma Flash and be done riding for the day.
Just like the other campsites, there's a little to no Wi-Fi, no soap in the bathrooms or showers, and no toilet paper in the stalls. But the campsite is beautiful. Lots of trees and shade, a pool, little restaurant, and right on the lake (Lago di Bracciano). And they have a TV, and we've enjoyed watching the European Football Cup the last few nights.
