Another hot one. But we started early and beat the worst of the heat. Ever since entering Canada, we've been riding next to the St. Lawrence River. The view of the water has been refreshing. We had another smooth day of riding as we left Ontario and entered Quebec. As soon as we entered Quebec, everything turned French. Before, many packages and signs had a French/English combo, and the primary language spoken was English. But now, the main language is French and even some young people struggle with English, which surprised me. A lot of Quebec flags as well. Apparently, Quebec feels separate from the rest of Canada - they tried to secede from Canada years ago, but it fell through.
We have another Warm Showers host today! Pat, Maggie, and Cedric are amazing. Super welcoming and asking about our every need. Pat took us out in his boat for a little sightseeing tour of the area, then dropped us off downtown. We got shawarma for dinner because it was the closest thing I could find to the doner I liked in Europe so much. It was close, but not quite the same. We met them back at the house and started to wind down for the evening. Nice to have a day of good riding that ends with good people.
Above is a small strip of island solely inhabited by birds. Pat said their poop is what killed the trees. Weird to witness.
